PHYSIOTHERAPY

Physiotherapy deals with pain and mobility issues – these can be serious injuries, strokes, post-surgical infirmities, pregnancy related, sports injuries, age related injuries and any pain or movement issues not related to illness.

The application of physiotherapy ranges from hospitals to clinics and to home treatments for the immobile.

The type of treatment you might receive in physiotherapy is a physical assessment of the problem based on a doctors prescription, if you have one, although this is not necessary.

There may be some form of hands on treatment, like massage or manipulation, by the physio. However this method aims at rehabilitation through muscle rebalancing, relearning lost motor skills, strength and movement exercises so some time will like be in the physics gym room. The physiotherapist mainly treats the specific part of the body affected by the pain.
